Ana Monaghan
Internationally known artist, Ana Monaghan, has traveled 30 countries while being a volunteer worker, artist, teacher, and journalist. She has held over 40 exhibitions and contributed to many group showings.
Norwegian Cruise Lines commissioned the artist to create 16 murals and paintings for The Pride of Hawaii, which toured Pacific Island sea ports. The cruise liner, renamed The Norwegian Jade, is currently touring the Mediterranean. The owner, of the cruise liner's “Le Bistro -- French Restaurant”, owned an original Gauguin painting. Ana was therefore commissioned to completely fill the museum-style walls of the restaurant with her original paintings in a similar style. (NCL's other Bistro, on The Norwegian Gem, is decorated with the original works of Monet, Gauguin, and others.)
The Grand Hyatt Tokyo commissioned Ana to do 15 paintings for their executive offices and as gifts for others.
She was commissioned by a company owner to create a six-foot long Japanese screen. That Japanese screen and others of her works were painted with pulverized gems and rock pigments on fine gold-covered, hand-made papers.
Among other awards, she was honored with the prize of Superior Excellence at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art's “International Modern Art Exhibition”. In Japan, the Empress Michiko received three of the artist’s paintings, writing notes of appreciation for the good influence of the artist’s work. Ana’s art adds quality to all kinds large and small structures. Although she paints in a variety of styles, she specializes in impressionism, as did Gauguin, Monet, and others.
